Cappella Mediterranea at Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci 2017
For this concert, Cappella Mediterranea has chosen to perform the oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra Il Diluvio Universale by Michelangelo Falvetti (1642-1692), a work that fits perfectly with the festival’s theme “Earth, Fire, Water, Air”. The ensemble, founded in 2005 by Argentinian conductor Leonardo García Alarcón, will play and thus reawaken this forgotten masterpiece from its archival sleep.
The diverse repertoire of Cappella Mediterranea, its concerts combining theatre and dance, and its recordings have all attracted great public and critical attention. The ensemble has performed at numerous prestigious festivals and venues throughout Europe and will be journeying to South America this fall following the close of their European tour.
