Ensemble 2e2m at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival
On November 11th, French and German ensembles – Ensemble 2e2m and Zeitkratzer – will present their show ‘’Metal Machine Music’’ at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is the largest British festival dedicated to new and experimental music. Each year, the ten-day festival hosts cutting-edge musical or music-related events in November – such as performances, screening, dance and music theatre.
In 2017, the festival has commissioned 13 works. It will feature 31 world premieres and 103 UK premieres.
Ensemble 2e2m is a French ensemble specialized in late 20th and 21st centuries repertoires. Since 1972, it has premiered more than 600 pieces in vanguardist venues worldwide. It aims to illustrate the diversity of musical expression in today’s creation and often mixes art forms.
This collaboration with Zeitkratzer is the opportunity to honor two opposite musical traditions: classical music based on scores and improvised electronic music. The concert will be the UK premieres of Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music and Kasper Toeplitz’s Agitation/Stagnation.
The concert is supported by Diaphonique, Franco-British fund for contemporary music.
