Ensemble La Rêveuse Performs at RheinVokal – Festival am Mittelrhein on 20 August 2017
On 20 August 2017, French ensemble La Rêveuse will perform works by composer Henry Purcell at the RheinVokal festival in the Middle Rhine Valley region of Germany. The evening’s programme, entitled “Hear me, oh Lord”, is dedicated to Purcell’s devotional songs for three male voices, compositions which are still little known and shrouded in a certain mystery. These meditations on the frailty of human existence are arguably among Purcell’s finest and most moving works.
La Rêveuse was founded by Benjamin Perrot and Florence Bolton and is an ensemble made up of soloist musicians who concentrate on the artistic legacy of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, a period which saw a blossoming of artistic experimentation and inventions of many different kinds. With the aim of creating links between different art forms, the ensemble often ventures into the world of theatre and literature, revisiting classical texts.
La Rêveuse is regularly invited to perform in the most prestigious venues (the Auditorium of Radio France, the Folle Journée de Nantes, the Concerts Parisiens, the Abbey of Fontevraud, the Festival of Chambord, the Athénée Theatre, the Radio-France Festival in Montpellier, the Scènes Nationales in Orléans, Blois, Quimper, the TNP in Villeurbanne, etc….). They also perform regularly abroad (in the United Kingdom, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Japan, Egypt, USA and Canada).
The ensembles’ recordings have all been highly acclaimed by French and international critics, among them the recording Purcell: Devotional Songs and Anthems (Choix France Musique, Choc Classica, 5 de Diapason, Clic Classiquenews).
