French Early Music Focus from September 27th to October 1st 2017
From September 27th through October 1st 2017, the Institut français will organise the first Focus dedicated to Early Music. Roughly 40 foreign professionals (festival and concert hall artistic directors, promoters, etc.) from all around the world will be invited to Versailles, Lyon and Ambronay, France to experience the fertility and diversity of the French early music sector.
An initiative of the Institut français, in association with partners Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, Ambronay Festival, European Early Music Network, Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon, FEVIS network, and Le Bureau Export, the Focus aims to promote not only the French early music repertoire, but also the historically informed performance of this repertoire on period instruments.
The Early Music Focus will showcase a new generation of emerging artists, influenced by pioneers such as William Christie, Jean-Claude Malgoire, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, helping them to develop their careers an international level. The artistic journey will include concerts and auditions as well as meetings between French artists and international professionals: panels, speed-meetings, and more. Meetings will also be organised with French programmers, in order to develop new opportunities, and foster new partnerships.
