Gramophone Artist of the Year 2017: Isabelle Faust & Matthias Goerne Make the Shortlist
Harmonia Mundi artists Isabelle Faust and Matthias Goerne have made the shortlist for the 2017 Gramophone Artist of the Year, a list of the 10 front-runners drawn up by the editors of Gramophone magazine. The other Artist of the Year nominees are Sol Gabetta, Carolyn Sampson, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Lars Vogt, Lisa Batiashvili, Vasily Petrenko and Imogen Cooper.
Baritone Matthias Goerne impressed Gramophone’s editors with his Brahms Collection, recorded with pianist Christoph Eschenbach. Hailed by the magazine as “a truly terrific Vier ernste Gesänge” and “a shattering musical experience”, the CD was released in May 2016 to critical acclaim.
The winner of the Artist of the Year award will be revealed at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 13 September, 2017.
