Jean-Guihen Queyras Performing Two Concerts at the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival
French cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras opens his summer residence in Hitzacker in a performance with the innovative German ensemble, Ensemble Resonanz on 29th July 2017 at the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival in Germany. The concert will feature a work by British composer Rebecca Saunders, the composer in residence for this year’s edition of the festival, followed by Johannes Brahms’s G Major string quartet op. 111.
The 30th July, Jean-Guihen Queyras, winner of Deutsche Schallplattenkritik’s 2016 annual prize, will perform a programme ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach, the unequalled master of the cello suite, to Zoltán Kodály’s sonata for solo cello. During his solo recital, the French artist will also pay homage to the English composer Benjamin Britten, who coaxed unique new nuances out of this deep string instrument.
