Les Siècles and François-Xavier Roth at the Proms 16 August
Under conductor François-Xavier Roth, the orchestra Les Siècles and French pianist Cédric Tiberghien will perform an all-French programme, inspired by the East, as part of the world-famous BBC Proms. The concert will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 16th August at 19:30.
Formed in 2003 by François-Xavier Roth, Les Siècles’ repertoire is as wide as its period instrument collection is vast, spanning the baroque, classical, romantic, and modern eras, with each repertoire played on the appropriate instruments.
After several successful UK concerts last year (Barbican Centre, Southbank Centre, Aldeburgh festival), Les Siècles are back again in London with an exciting programme featuring:
Camille Saint‐Saëns, La princesse jaune – overture
Léo Delibes, Lakmé – ballet music
Camille Saint‐Saëns, Piano Concerto No 5 in F major, “Egyptian”
César Franck, Les Djinns
Édouard Lalo, Namouna – Suite No. 1 & Suite No. 2
Camille Saint‐Saëns, Samson and Delilah – Bacchanal
François-Xavier Roth was recently named Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (beginning in September 2017). Click here to learn more.
Les Siècles released the full recording of Ravel’s Daphnis & Chloé ballet in March 2017 on the Harmonia Mundi label.
