Quatuor Diotima Playing at Beethovenfest Bonn 24th September
24 September 2017, the French quartet Quatuor Diotima will be performing at the Beethovenfest Bonn in Bonn, Germany. The evening’s programme, entitled “With Deepest Sentiment”, includes Luigi Nono’s Fragmente – Stille, An Diotima and Ludwig van Beethoven’s String quartet no. 15 in A minor, op. 132 (‘Galitzin Quartet II’).
Founded in 1996 by laureates of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the Diotima Quartet has gone on to have an extensive international career, collaborating with several of today’s major composers, such as Helmut Lachenmann, Brian Ferneyhough and Toshio Hosokawa, while also regularly commissioning new works from composers such as Tristan Murail, Alberto Posadas, Gérard Pesson, Rebecca Saunders and Pascal Dusapin. The Diotima Quartet has performed on prestigious stages around the world and as part of several major European festivals and concert series including the Berlin Philharmonie and the Berlin Konzerthaus, Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Cité de la musique in Paris, London’s Wigmore Hall and SouthBank Centre, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and more. The quatuor’s 2017/2018 season sees them playing in Romania, Poland, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Austria among others.
Staunchly dedicated to contemporary classical music, the Diotima Quartet is not limited exclusively to this repertoire. In programming major classical works alongside today’s new music, their concerts offer a fresh look at works by the great composers, in particular Bartók, Debussy and Ravel, the late quartets of Schubert and Beethoven, composers from the Viennese School, as well as the works of Janácek.
