Simon Ghraichy – “Liszt and the Americas” at the Berliner Philharmonie
After concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., French pianist Simon Ghraichy will make his debut at the Kammermusiksaal of the Berliner Philharmonie on Friday 4 November 2016 at 8pm as part of a program entitled “Liszt and the Americas”, a juxtaposition of the works of Liszt with those of North American and Latin American composers.
Though Franz Liszt never visited America, his ties to the New World remain strong. His close friendship with American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk and the relocation of former students to the United States brought a half-century of Liszt’s piano tradition to North America.
Simon Ghraichy is signed exclusively to Deutsche Grammophon. He will release his first album 4 March 2017 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.
