World Premiere of Hèctor Parra’s “Three Shakespeare Sonnets” (2016) at the Kölner Philharmonie
On 28 May 2017, the Freiburger Barockorchester and the tenor Julian Prégardien, directed by the French conductor and composer Jérémie Rohrer, presented the world premiere of Three Shakespeare Sonnets (2016) written by Hèctor Parra at the Kölner Philharmonie. This work, which was commissioned by the Kölner Philharmonie and KölnMusik for the 60th birthday of Louwrens Langevoort (director of the Kölner Philharmonie), is a 12-minute piece written for tenor and orchestra, inspired by Shakespeare’s sonnets 18, 19 and 20.
Hèctor Parra‘s future projects include the works Inscape (for full orchestra, 16 soloists from the Ensemble intercontemporain and Ircam electronics in real time), Avant la fin… vers où ? (symphonic work for the Orquesta Nacional de España and the Orchestre National de Lille) and Orgia – Irrisorio alito d’aria (couples the Baroque ensemble Concerto Köln with the contemporary music Ensemble Musikfabrik).
Parra’s works are published by Durand Éditions Musicales / Universal Music Publishing Classical (Paris).
